Football Manager 09: – Second Coming

Since my earlier post on FM 09 received such positive response, I have decided to write more Football Manager 2009 related posts on my blog…
So here’s an update on the game I have been playing. I had chosen to Manage Manchester United at the start of the 2008-09 season. Been two seasons at the club [...]

EPL is in a state of Turmoil, but not so for Liverpool!

Well well well, It was a weekend that might prove to be the most crucial one in the race to the championship. Both Man United and Chelsea lost their respective fixtures and Liverpool thrashed Villa to take the second spot with just 1 point separating them from Manchester United.
Though Man U have a game in [...]

Things seem to be looking bright for Arsenal…Finally!!!

Arsenal defeated Hull city 2-1 yesterday night to go through to the FA cup semi final. Before that they defeated Blackburn comprehensively to regain the coveted 4th place and qualification for the Champions League. Also just a few days earlier they defeated FC Roma on penalties in the knock out stages of the Champions league [...]

The Phenomenon that is BARCELONA

The team that Europe is scared of at the moment!!!Barcelona sit 6 points clear at the top of the spanish league table and are comfortably through to the quarter finals of the Champions league. They are hot favourites to win this seasons European tournament.

The team has thrived under the leadership of Pep Guardiola. Guardiola took over the reins from Rijkaard in the summer and re-organised the squad to create one of the most beautiful attacking team in Europe. Only Manchester United might come close to Barcelona in the amount of Matches won and goals scored and conceded and more prolifically for the amount of dominance in the league.

Guardiola spent around 90 Million to rebuild the squads buying the likes of Daniel Alves, Seydou Keita, Caceres, Pique, Hleb etc…

Barca play the 4-3-3 formation and they play it without any disguise as done by the likes of Chelsea who indeed play 4-3-2-1. the front 3 of Barca are out and out forwards and can in no way be classified as wingers. Eto leads the front 3 through the centre. Bojan is used in rotation or as a substitute and is definitely capable of reaching the high standards as set by the front 3 playing for Barca.

The Barca trinity: – Attack any defense would be terrorised of

Vidic & co. let the devils down

It was a sorry scoreline and a sorry performance for Manchester United against Liverpool. I mean this is a team that might have had the most 1-0 victories of the last two seasons. And after scoring the first goal off a Ronaldo penalty I was sure they’d seal the match off even if they didnt score [...]

Arshavin annouces arrival

Arsenal 4 Blackburn 0. Such a scoreline is a rare reading these days for Arsenal fans but thanks to Arshavin’s dazzling performance the same was made possible on saturday against Blackburn.
Arsenal began in such style that i thought this would be one of those matches where Arsenal would score 4/5 goals. Arshavin scored in the [...]

Manchester United manage to keep cool “Heads”

It was a typical European night of Football. The match kept dilly dallying from one end of the pitch to another. Manchester United settled the initial nerves when Vidic scored the opening goal. Despite the first goal Man united looked far from the convincing side which outplayed Mourinho’s Inter all over the pitch in the [...]

Arsenal win late on Penalties

It was an absolute Nail-biter of a penalty shootout. Very little to distinguish between the 2 teams. First Eduardo missed for Arsenal and luckily for Arsenal so did Vucinic for the second Roma penalty kick.
When Vucinic struck that miserable penalty, I almost thought that even the Penalties would be as boring as the Match…But it [...]
